Weekly Bulletin: 2023-05-10
“For every high priest is appointed to offer gifts and sacrifices; thus it is necessary for this priest also to have something to offer. Now if he were on earth, he would not be a priest at all, since there are priests who offer gifts according to the law. They serve a copy and shadow of the heavenly things. For when Moses was about to erect the tent, he was instructed by God, saying ‘See that you make everything according to the pattern that was shown you on the mountain.’ But as it is, Christ has obtained a ministry that is as much more excellent than the old as the covenant he mediates is better, since it is enacted on better promises. For if that first covenant had been faultless, there would have been no occasion to look for a second” (Heb. 8:3–7).
The writer of Hebrews has been hammering home the great truth of the gospel that Jesus Christ is our better High Priest, the one who represents sinners in pure, spotless righteousness. In chapter 8, he continues that discussion by examining the occasion of the priest’s representation in the Holy Place in order to show how that was meant to typify what Jesus has actually accomplished in his body and by his blood.
Join us this Sunday, May 14, at 10 AM as, Lord willing, we’ll be diving even further into the immaculate truths of God’s Word by looking at Hebrews 8 and the better covenant enacted through Jesus’s sacrificial service. I can’t wait to open the Word with you again and to worship alongside you as we lift high the name of Jesus 🙌
Blessings 🙏 Pastor Brad
