“So to keep me from becoming conceited because of the surpassing greatness of the revelations a thorn was given me in the flesh a messenger of Satan to harass me, to keep me from becoming conceited. Three times I pleaded with the Lord about this, that it should leave me. But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me” (2 Cor. 12:7–9).
Paul’s confession in 2 Corinthians 12 remains one of the most surprising in the entire Bible. Instead of glorying in the array of accomplishments to his name, he says that his one boast is his weakness — because in his weakness, Christ’s power rests upon him. This isn’t the usual vocabulary we see from leaders, especially those in the church. But it might just be that what the world needs are Christians willing to confess the same thing.
I pray you will join your church family and friends this Sunday, Apr. 30, at 10 AM as, Lord willing, I will be back in the pulpit bringing you a word from this very passage of Scripture. Also, don’t forget about our Hymn Sing & Testimony Time Sunday evening at 6. May you rejoice in your weaknesses with your brothers and sisters in Christ this weekend!
Blessings 🙏 Pastor Brad
