Weekly Bulletin: 2023-04-12
“When God desired to show more convincingly to the heirs of the promise the unchangeable character of his purpose, he guaranteed it with an oath, so that by two unchangeable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled for refuge might have strong encouragement to hold fast to the hope set before us. We have this as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul, a hope that enters into the inner place behind the curtain, where Jesus has gone as a forerunner on our behalf” (Heb. 6:17–20).
Hebrews 6 is one of those troublesome passages. The beginning portion of it contains several verses that have caused none too few disciple to stumble. But the writer closes with these words, which are some of the most encouraging and invigorating in the entire New Testament. We who believe have Christ for our anchor!
Join us for worship this Sunday, Apr. 16, at 10 AM as, Lord willing, I will be explaining the troublesome bits of Hebrews 6 in light of the great truth that we have a “sure and steadfast” anchor in Christ alone. Then be sure to come out to our 6 PM service where I’ll be continuing in our series studying the book of 1 John. I pray you’ll be in your spots this weekend for another sweet time of worship and fellowship together!
Blessings 🙏 Pastor Brad
