Weekly Bulletin: 2023-04-05
“The angel said to the women, ‘Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here, for he has risen, as he said. Come, see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples that he has risen from the dead, and behold he is going before you to Galilee; there you will see him. See, I have told you’” (Matt. 28:5–7).
Some of the best words in the entire Bible are the words of the angel to the women in Matthew 28. “He has risen,” the angel announces matter-of-factly. But with that announcement, the whole world would never be the same. Jesus might have died carrying your sins and mine on his shoulders, but — praise be! — he didn’t stay dead! He rose from the dead on the third day, thereby ensuring that sinners, such as you and me, could be redeemed and made new.
