Weekly Bulletin: 2023-03-01
“For every high priest chosen from among men is appointed to act on behalf of men in relation to God to offer gifts and sacrifices for sins. He can deal gently with the ignorant and wayward, since he himself is beset with weakness. Because of this he is obligated to offer sacrifice for his own sins just as he does for those of the people. And no one takes this honor for himself, but only when called by God just as Aaron was” (Heb. 5:1–4).
The ministry of the high priest in Old Testament times is easily one of the most significant roles anyone could have. In a very real way, the high priest was chosen to represent the people before the Lord Almighty. It was a position of great importance and weight in the religious life of God’s people. What the Hebrew writer does in chapters 4 and 5 is showcase the way in Jesus fulfills that responsibility as the great High Priest for not just God’s people but for the entire world.
I hope you will join us this Sunday, Mar. 5, at 10 AM and 6 PM as meet with the Lord once again through his Word and Spirit. Whenever God’s people gather around God’s Word, God shows up. We’ll also be observing the Lord’s Supper during the morning service, so I pray you’ll be in your places this weekend as we worship the Almighty Savior and Great High Priest of our faith.
Blessings 🙏 Pastor Brad
