Weekly Bulletin: 2022-12-21
“There shall come forth a shoot from the stump of Jesse, and a branch from his roots shall bear fruit. And the Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord. And his delight shall be in the fear of the Lord. He shall not judge by what his eyes see, or decide disputes by what his ears hear, but with righteousness he shall judge the poor, and decide with equity for the meek of the earth; and he shall strike the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips he shall kill the wicked. Righteousness shall be the belt of his waist, and faithfulness the belt of his loins” (Isa. 11:1–5).
There are songs and carols galore that speak of the peace which is brought in during the Christmas season. They all miss the mark, though, if they don’t keep their focus on the Prince of Peace who alone brings in true, everlasting peace. This Christmas, we’re focusing on the Savior, born for us in a lowly manger, who comes to give us his peace.
Join your church family and friends this weekend as we celebrate the Christmas season. Join us on Christmas Eve at 7pm for our annual candlelight service. Then make your plans to join us Christmas Day at 10am as we rejoice in the “good news of great joy” that is the Savior’s arrival!
Note: There will only be one gathering on Christmas Day, so no Sunday school and no evening service. To learn more, visit https://www.stoningtonbaptist.org/christmas.
