News & Updates: Week of 2021-07-26
Can you believe that next week will already be August?! That is honestly hard to believe. Where have June and July gone? A part of me feels as though we only just entered summer. Soon our schedules will become more routine as the school year begins with downtime replaced by activities on end. Hopefully, though, that you have found time to enjoy these days with family and friends.
This coming Sunday is first of August, which means we will be participating in the Lord’s Supper during the morning worship service. I pray you will be with us. It is always a special time to close a worship service by observing Communion. Also, if you haven’t yet, you should join us at 6pm for our evening worship service. We’ve been studying Philippians and there is just so much there for us as the church. I pray you’ll join us for that time of worship as well.
May you be blessed this week as you reflect on the God who will stop at nothing to give his children his strength.
Blessings 🙏 Pastor Brad
Make sure to join us for Sunday school too!
We have Sunday school every Sunday at 9am, with classes specifically geared for adults, teens, and young children. I pray you’ll take advantage of these wonderful opportunities to grow in grace with your church family.
The adults are currently in a series called, “The Pursuit of Holiness.” Utilizing Jerry Bridges’ classic book (of the same name), Matt Kersey is leading this informative class on what it means, and what it looks like, to “follow hard after God.” (Ps. 63:8)
Children’s Church & Nursery are available during the morning service.
(Note: The Nursery is also available during the evening service.)

We could use some more volunteers, so stop by the VBS table in the church foyer to sign-up and/or see Gwennie Francis. Also, there is a sign-up board in the church foyer for those able to donate VBS snacks. Make sure to do that as soon as possible. We also have some decorating needs as well.
20–30 plain green Christmas Trees
3 large sand shovels
1 plastic kiddie pool
50 empty tissue boxes
If you can help by donating any of these items, please contact Gwennie Francis at (570) 648-1467.
Men, mark your calendars for Saturday, August 14, at 9am for another time of Bible study and prayer. We are starting a brand new daily devotional series utilizing the YouVersion Bible app. Download the app to your phone and click the link to join the group as we study the Word together!
Our church picnic is coming up on Sunday, August 15, at Mountain View Bible Camp. We’ll start at 10am with praise and worship and preaching from God’s Word. Afterwards, we’ll share a meal together. There is a sign-up sheet in the church foyer for those who would like to bring a side dish. Please sign-up as soon as possible. The main course will be provided.
After the meal, the pool will be opened and there will also be games available for all ages. I hope you’ll make plans to attend this special day with your church family!
Note: There will be no evening service.
Revival is coming! The Susquehanna Valley Tent Revival, organized by the Sunbury Community Prayer Room, is taking place August 19–21! You won’t want to miss this exciting weekend of singing, preaching, praying, and experiencing the words of Jesus as we seek to reach the valley with the gospel.

On Saturday, there is a youth event from 1–5pm, followed by the final night of worship at 6pm. Pastor Brad will be preaching during the Friday night meeting.
