News & Updates: Week of 2021-06-14
It was so good having my mom and dad in town this past week. We were able to spend some quality time together, and Lydia and Braxton just adored having their grandparents around. Thank you for giving them such a warm welcome! It was such a blessing to have my dad preach, too. Here’s his sermon from Sunday morning, if you missed it:
Love,
Pastor Brad
Worship with us!
Join us on Sundays for worship at 10am and 6pm. We love gathering around God’s Word and fellowshipping with God’s people, and we’d love for you to be a part of that! I pray you will be able to be there with us this coming weekend 🙌
Make sure to join us for Sunday school too!
We have Sunday school every Sunday at 9am. We have classes for adults, teens, and young children. I pray you’ll take advantage of these wonderful opportunities to grow in grace with your church family.
The adults started a brand new study, entitled, “The Pursuit of Holiness.” Utilizing Jerry Bridges’ classic book (of the same name), Matt Kersey is leading this informative class on what it means, and what it looks like, to “follow hard after God.” (Ps. 63:8)
Children’s Church & Nursery are available during the morning service.
(Note: the Nursery is also available during the evening service.)
Events & Announcements
We’re celebrating Father’s Day with a men’s breakfast THIS Sunday, June 20, at 8am. Any men and young men who signed up are free to to join us for this special meal.
Please Note: In honor of Father’s Day, there will be no evening service this Sunday.
There will be another Men’s Bible Study on Saturday, June 26, at 9am. Join us for another time of sharpening in the Word of God.
Summer camp at WOL is fast approaching — June 27–July 2! We have no more reserved tickets but additional spots can still be reserved by submitting a $50 deposit to either Pastor Nathan or Christa Kersey. We are praying for all the young people already going, that the Lord would do a mighty work in them through this year’s camp!
The board will be convening for its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, July 6, at 7pm.
Please mark your calendars for Sunday, July 11 as we’ll be having our next quarterly congregational business meeting immediately following the morning worship service. Please make plans to attend this brief meeting.
The 2021 Walk/Run/Ride for Life was a huge success!
With your support, we were able to raise over $3000.00 for the Pregnancy Care Center of Shamokin! In recognition of your generous support, the Corner of Hope will be hosting a pizza party on Sunday, July 18 in the gym immediately following the morning worship service. If you took part in this event, please be sure to stick around!
Looking Ahead
Vacation Bible School 2021 is coming August 8—13! Registration is now open! Simply go to vbspro.events/p/events/sbc2021 to register your child today.
We are also in need of volunteers, so stop by the VBS table in the church foyer to sign up and/or see Gwennie Francis. We have some decorating needs as well. We need to borrow 20–30 plain green Christmas trees. We also need some cardboard boxes and 2 large appliance boxes with supports. If you can help by donating any of these items, please contact Gwennie Francis at (570) 648-1467.
Note: There will be some VBS training events on July 11 and July 18 after the morning services, for those involved in VBS this year.
This year’s church picnic is scheduled for Sunday, August 15, at Mountain View Bible Camp. I pray you’ll make plans to attend this special day with your church family!
Ladies, please mark your calendars for September 24–26 for this year’s Ladies Retreat at the Linck Hill Inn. Please use the pink sign-up form in your bulletin to register. The cost for double occupancy is $167, and for single occupancy is $197. Please return the completed form and a $25 deposit by Sunday, July 11 to register. Thank you!
