News & Updates: Week of 2021-06-07
Wow!
What a thrilling weekend to be at Stonington! There was so much going on with Heather and Ambrose’s wedding on Saturday and the baptism and communion services on Sunday — all I can say is, Thank you! It was enormous and humbling opportunity to see so many of you take part in this special weekend. So much hard work was on display all weekend.
These sorts of ministry weekends are certainly exciting to be a part of — but they’re also exhausting. You could say it’s sort of a “beautiful exhaustion,” since what is being striven for is the glory of God and the celebration of God’s people through marriage, baptism, and the Lord’s Supper.
(Be on the lookout because I’ll be sharing some snapshots from the weekend right here!)
My mom and dad are visiting PA this week and my dad will be preaching this coming Sunday morning. I pray you’ll make plans to be with us. Also, make sure to join us on Wednesday for our open Bible discussion and study and prayer time. This is a wonderful opportunity to delve into the Word and investigate it with your church family.
Thank you for the opportunity to serve you. I’m so glad to be your pastor 🙏
Love,
Pastor Brad
Make sure to join us for our Sunday school hour!
We have Sunday school every Sunday at 9am. We have classes for adults, teens, and young children. I pray you’ll take advantage of these wonderful opportunities to grow in grace with your church family.
The adults started a brand new study, entitled, “The Pursuit of Holiness.” Utilizing Jerry Bridges’ classic book (of the same name), Matt Kersey is leading this informative class on what it means, and what it looks like, to “follow hard after God.” (Ps. 63:8)
Children’s Church & Nursery are available during the morning service.
(Note: the Nursery is also available during the evening service.)
Events & Announcements
Join us for worship THIS Sunday, June 13 as we welcome Pastor Mike Gray (Pastor Brad’s dad), who’ll be sharing God’s Word with us during the morning service 🙌
We’ll also be gathering for worship at 6pm for our evening service. I hope you’ll make a point to join us for worship and fellowship this weekend!
We’re celebrating Father’s Day with a breakfast on Sunday, June 20, at 8am. We invite all the men and young men to join us. Simply put your name on the sign-up sheet in the church foyer so we can prepare. Thank you!
There’s another Men’s Bible Study on Saturday, June 26, at 9am. Join us for another time of sharpening in the Word of God.
Summer camp at WOL is fast approaching — June 27–July 2! There are 2 tickets remaining at the cost of $240. Additional tickets can be purchased at a higher price. Please reserve your spot by submitting a $50 deposit to either Pastor Nathan or Christa Kersey.
Please mark your calendars for July 11 as we’ll be having our next quarterly congregational business meeting immediately following the morning worship service.
The 2021 Walk/Run/Ride for Life was a huge success!
With your support, we were able to raise over $3000.00 for the Pregnancy Care Center of Shamokin! In recognition of your generous support the Corner of Hope will be throwing a pizza party on Sunday, July 18 immediately following the morning worship service. If you took part in this event, please be sure to stick around.
Looking Ahead
Vacation Bible School 2021 is coming August 8—13! We are in need of volunteers, so stop by the VBS table in the church foyer to sign up and/or see Gwennie Francis.
We have some decorating needs as well. We need to borrow 20–30 plain green Christmas trees. We also need some cardboard boxes and 2 large appliance boxes with supports. If you can help by donating any of these items, please contact Gwennie Francis at (570) 648-1467.
Note: There will be some VBS training events on July 11 and July 18 after the morning services, for those involved in VBS this year.
This year’s church picnic is scheduled for Sunday, August 15, at Mountain View Bible Camp. I pray you’ll make plans to attend this special day with your church family!
Ladies, please mark your calendars for September 24–26 for this year’s Ladies Retreat.
